100 Years, 100 Tigers.
As you walk around our campus—or drive around town—you will see 100 Centennial Tigers, which marked the University’s 100th anniversary in 2012. While the pose for each tiger is the same, some of the area’s finest artists made each tiger a piece of art. All 100 tiger statues were sponsored by alumni, businesses and fans. The UofM Alumni Association developed the idea for Tigers Around Town as another way to connect our community with this great university. There is something special about the relationship between the City of Memphis and its hometown Tigers. For more than 100 years, the UofM has been a big part of the creative vibe that makes Memphis, Memphis. And there’s no other place like it in the world.
